# Quickstart

> Sign up with your work email, send the provider's own request to api.datacircle.dev with your Datacircle key (same request, same price, no markup), then get the flat file.

## 1. Sign up

Log in at [datacircle.dev/login](https://datacircle.dev/login) with your work email (freemail addresses are refused). You start with a \$5 credit (see [Balance and credits](/balance)).

Your API key is on the page once you're in. Reset it from the API:

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.datacircle.dev/me/api-key/reset/ -H "Authorization: Token <api_key>"
```

The reset returns the new key. The old one stops working.

## 2. Spend your balance

Your balance pays for provider data. Same request, same price, no markup:

Send the provider's own request to `api.datacircle.dev`, with your key and `X-Data-Provider`:

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST https://api.datacircle.dev/v1/profiles/enrich \
  -H "Authorization: Token <api_key>" -H "X-Data-Provider: up2data" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"url": "https://www.linkedin.com/in/williamhgates"}'
```

The answer is Up2Data's, plus `datacircle_meta`: `cost_usd` (what this call cost) and `balance_usd` (what you have left). With an empty balance you get a 402. HarvestAPI and Fetchin work the same way, on their own `GET /linkedin/profile?url=...` with `X-Data-Provider: harvestapi` and `GET /api/v1/profile?profileUrlOrUrn=...` with `X-Data-Provider: fetchin`: see [LinkedIn Profile API](/linkedin-profile).

## 3. Get the flat file

Add \$50 to your account: you get \$50 of API PLUS the flat file. Credits don't count toward the \$50 (see [Adding funds](/balance#adding-funds)).

The flat file is one co-op file per provider (`coop_up2data`, `coop_harvestapi`, `coop_fetchin`), new every day. `GET /files/` lists them, each with `is_unlocked`. Once `is_unlocked` is `true`, ask for a download link: a URL valid for one hour. Before that, you get a `403`.

```bash theme={null}
curl https://api.datacircle.dev/files/ -H "Authorization: Token <api_key>"
curl -X POST https://api.datacircle.dev/files/<file_id>/download-link/ -H "Authorization: Token <api_key>"
```

See [Files](/files) for what each file holds and how to read it.
